Outdated and Inaccurate Info

As a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist, I skimmed this book and found inaccurate and old info. (Much of it was good, but too much inaccurate to recommend since high-school kids would just believe I all as accurate.)
I hope no school uses this book, and with a publication date of Nov. 2012 written by a team at Stanford, sadly, they should have had somebody with a solid research/Nutrition Science background dig up current info instead of publishing out-of-date, oft repeated info you can just as easily find online. Any decent, up to date RDN would have known some of this info was outdated.
1. The Food Guide Pyramid shown in this book was from 1992! It was updated in 2005 and discontinued in 2011. Why didn't anybody catch this? (And, personally, I believe it's been influenced not by solid science, but by political pressure exerted by lobbyists for food production associations, in particular dairy, wheat and meat, so I wouldn't have included it anyway.)
2. "My Plate" fully replaced the Food Guide Pyramid (google Food Guide Pyramid history)in mid-2011. Seems this should have been early enough to know this with a publication date of late 2012.
3. To suggest that we can get adequate Vit D from sunlight just an hour in the sun in "cold climates" - suggesting winter-time absorption in Northern US/Canada is just not considered accurate today. Especially not if dark skinned. [...]
3. Appendix - This book states: "Your appendix is a vestigial organ . . . no longer needed." It should have said "May play a role in health" based on recent research. Such as this suggesting an increased risk of infections (CDiff) if it is removed: [...] or The Cecal Appendix: One More Immune Component With a Function Disturbed By Post-Industrial Culture -[...]

If this is the state of the books being used in K-12 in public schools, it's pretty sad. Glad it was free on my Kindle. Now I'll be deleting it.
